Oxygen Concentrator

Oxygen Concentrator
PropertiesDetails
Purpose of UseOxygen concentrators are the devices that filter out the nitrogen from the room air and concentrate the oxygen. It also removes the dust and bacteria from the air. The oxygen concentrator is prescribed for people who have some chronic health problems or have symptoms of a disease affecting the respiratory system.
TypesStationary:
- Large size and has a heavy weight.
- Continuous flow mode: delivers a constant air flow.
- Oxygen concentration is 92% - 96%.
- Shorter battery life compared with the portable.
- The Oxygen concentration can be adjusted and is measured by liter per minute.
- Preferred for usage while sleeping.
- Lower price (around $2300 according to the World Health Organization).

Portable:
- Small size and has a light weight.
- Usually delivers pulses of air.
- Oxygen Concentration is 87% - 96%.
- Longer battery life compared with the stationary.
- The oxygen concentration cannot be adjusted accurately and is measured by milliliter per breath.
- Not preferred for using while sleeping.
- Higher price (around $5000 according to World Health Organization).
Proper Use1- Plug the unit into the power source before switching on the device.
2- Pour distilled or cold water into the humidifier bottle in between the (Min-Max) levels.
3- After turning on the machine, adjust the oxygen flow level as prescribed by your health provider.
4- Wear the mask or nasal cannula that is provided with the machine.
5-If the device is portable, do not force a breath. The device is usually sensitive to breathing and might not provide a pulse in the same time of inhaling if you are not breathing normally.
6- Use for the prescribed amount of time.
7- Shut down the device after use.
Safety Precautions• Use the power that is suggested in the manual in order for the oxygen concentrator to work well.
• Do not use the concentrator near fire, while smoking or in a humid place.
• Place the concentrator in an open space to avoid overheating of the device.
• Do not block any vents on the concentrator to maintain a good performance of the device.
• Never change the oxygen level on your own if you have a related chronic disease or symptoms of CoVID-19.
• Do not share the face mask or the cannula with others.
• It is better to wait for five minutes before turning it on again after shutting it off to not make the compressor work under pressure.
Common ProblemsThe problems that occurs in oxygen concentrators are usually related to the intake of the surrounding air and the ability to filter out the nitrogen:
- If the device does not enter enough air, this is most likely due to an obstruction blocking the air inlet.
2- If the air is not well filtered, the water concentration in the surrounding air is one of reasons. Try to move the device to a dryer area. Another reason is that the filters are dirty and need to be cleaned.
